Our New Hobby

Recently, Aaron and I have gotten very interested in cake decorating. I have no idea why, I am still shocked that Aaron agreed to spend hours piping decorator's icing and making chocolate molds, nonetheless, it is our new hobby. This is our first official cake. We made it for our sister-in-law's baby shower. We think it turned out quite nice for our first. We made a star shaped cake, b/c it is the theme of the baby's nursery stuff. We also made baby booties out of marshmallows. Then we made blocks with the letters HAWK on them. The baby is due in less than a week. His name will be Andrew Hawthorne Forsyth, but called Hawk for short. I am getting pretty excited about our first nephew's arrival!!

Other than cake decorating, there is not much going on. This past weekend we got to go and see our family while we were in Wingate for the shower. We had a very good time, but were glad to get home! Those weekends are always packed with tons of events and visiting, so it can be exhausting. We also went out for coffee at one of my fave coffee shops, La Vida Mocha. We got to see Aaron's family, my parents and grandma, Mike and Audra, and we went to Midway ( our old church) Sunday morning!

This past week my work schedule changed alot! I am now keeping a 4 month old part time, and cut back on my hours at Great Direct. It is so much fun. I didn't realize how much I missed working with children.

This weekend we are going camping! This will be the first time in almost a year and a half since we have gone on vacation together, just the 2 of us. I am so excited. I hope we don't freeze!

God is faithful

Well, this week the Lord has been busy working on me. I have trouble sometimes staying in the word and having regular quiet times. I just don't have a strong desire for the Bible alot of times and tend to have a bad attitude about it. I have been praying for God to work on me in this way and to help me see my constant need for him....and boy does he answer prayer. This week I have been reading scripture about waiting and rejoicing. There is a specific area of my life right now, that I am struggling in with waiting, lacking patience and joy. I feel like over and over God has pointed me to scripture about having joy and trusting Him in waiting, I was just too busy and selfish to realize it. So one part that stuck out to me this week was Psalm 37: 3-5:
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good;dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.
4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;trust in him, and he will act.
Wow. Also, we went to see Fireproof this week and felt like this pointed directly to Christ. It was a great movie and I strongly recommend it. It was a great refresher of what marriage should look like and about the gift of salvation that needs to be shared with so many.
I dont drive very often since I work from home, but it seems as though everytime I get in the car I hear this song on the radio. I put the lyrics below, I couldnt seem to upload the video. I feel like the lyrics really hit home....I could really use His eyes to see the needs around me and not just in my little world.
Give Me Your Eyes
by Brandon Heath
Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black tile
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breath in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere?
Why have I never cared?
Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the once forgotten
Give me your eyes so I can see
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide whats underneath
Theres a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
Hes out of work
Hes buying time
all those people going somewhere? Why have I never cared?

Unusual, but good

Are we really Carolina Panther's Fans?

Aaron and I dont watch sports....period...ever... but we have watched every Panther's game so far this season....and enjoyed them. I look forward to it now every weekend and I think I am beginning to understand the rules.....The only football phrase I knew about before this season was from middle school cheerleading..."1st and 10, Lets go!, Lets Win!" lol.....so not much football knowledge here.

We also watched The Office for the first time this week....everyone always brags about it, so we thought hey, why not. It was good...I believe we will be tuning in again this Thursday.

One final random thing. We got an official notice, Friday, from Charlotte saying to remove our "junk from the property in order not to be fined." As I was reading this notice, I had absolutely no clue what it was referring to...finally I figured it out, on the back, there was a pic of a shopping cart. (it was in our front yard when we moved in, I wasnt sure what to do with it, bc trash men dont pick up shopping carts, so I put it in the side yard towards the back for the time being) I didnt move it over the weekend, b/c I still dont know what to do with it and was kinda confused by this notice and the fact that some "official Charlotte guy" came and took a picture of my almost backyard to get a pic of a cart, that has probably been there for a year as the house sat with no tenant. This morning while I was working, an "inspector man" showed up at the front door and was quite rude about my "stolen shopping cart"...yes he accused me of stealing a shopping cart!! who does that?? Do I look like a shopping cart thief?? He told me to put it in the garage, out of sight, immediately......so anyways I kindly put it in the garage and Aaron is calling the city to find out about extra trash pick up....urr.

Home Sweet Home

For the majority of the 2 1/2 years we have been married, we have been very busy people. We both worked full time, Aaron was in college full time, and I was in school part time.....In the last week I have realized, wow, I dont know how we did all that, and kept the house together, and had a social, church, and family life. The whole time we were going through these motions, I could not wait to be at home more and to spend more time with Aaron. We prayed that this would be financially possible......and now it seems like it is coming together more and more all the time. I am working from home now, making phone calls for Great Direct Concepts and nannying on the side. I love it! God really answers prayer! He has given Aaron a great job at UNCC that allows for me to be home more. It used to seem like I would miss out on a lot of things, and never had a flexible schedule with working in daycares, but now when I get a call to do or help with something I am able to go! I am so much happier and less stressed than I used to be. Some nights when Aaron gets home from work at 5:00 pm, it kinda feels like what do we do now? It is wonderful to get that time when we dont have to do anything, but enjoy being home together. The Lord is wonderful to provide our needs and wants. I think about how a year ago, I was concerned that Aaron would not be able to find a job, wondered where we would live at, and if I would ever get to see my husband more often...and now it seems crazy that I was concerned when God is in complete control and sees the "big picture", not just what my eyes can see.
